Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 22, 2026
Last updated: October 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how EuroGulf Guide (“EuroGulf Guide”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you visit eurogulfguide.com (the “Site”) or contact us. We respect your privacy and aim to explain our practices in plain English. By using the Site, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

EuroGulf Guide is operated by an individual based in the State of Texas, United States. For the purposes of data protection laws such as the GDPR, EuroGulf Guide is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at any time at contact@eurogulfguide.com.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Emails you send us: if you contact us by email, we receive your email address, your name (if you include it) and any information in your message and attachments. We use this only to read and reply to your message, handle your request and keep a record of our correspondence.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: if you ask to join our email alerts, we keep your email address so we can send you those emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive information such as passport numbers or financial details. Please do not send us sensitive personal information or documents.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages requested and the date and time of your visit. This information is used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the Site and to protect it against abuse.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: we and our partners use cookies, web beacons, pixels, local storage and similar technologies, as described below.

2. Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help a site work properly, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used and deliver relevant advertising. We use the following categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: required for the Site to function and to keep it secure, including cookies that remember your consent choices.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve our content (see Google Analytics below).
  • Advertising cookies: used by Google and other advertising partners to serve ads, limit how often you see an ad, measure ad performance and, where permitted, show ads based on your interests.

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies or delete cookies when you close the browser. If you block cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, and you can change your choices at any time using the privacy or cookie settings link on the Site.

3. Advertising and Google AdSense

EuroGulf Guide is free to use and is supported by display advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads, and we may work with other advertising networks in the future (for example, Mediavine, Raptive or similar providers). If we add a new advertising partner, we will update this policy.

Please note the following about the ads on our Site:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick (DART) cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to our visitors based on their visit to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.
  • You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
  • To learn more about how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, please visit How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Personalized and non-personalized ads

Personalized ads are selected using information such as your browsing activity and inferred interests, collected through cookies and similar technologies. Non-personalized ads are not based on your past behaviour; they are selected using contextual information such as the content of the page you are viewing and your general (city-level) location. Non-personalized ads may still use cookies or similar technologies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and to combat fraud and abuse.

If you do not consent to personalized ads, or if you opt out, you may still see ads on our Site, but they will be less relevant to you. Ad partners and the third-party vendors they work with may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers, browser information and interaction with ads. Their use of this information is governed by their own privacy policies.

4. Google Analytics and Google Search Console

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the Site, for example which pages are popular, how long visitors stay and what type of device they use. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser information and referral sources. We use this information in aggregate form to improve our content, and we do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors.

You can learn more about how Google handles this data in the Google Privacy Policy, and you can prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We also use Google Search Console, which gives us aggregated reports about how our Site appears in Google Search results (such as search queries and clicks). It does not place cookies on your device through our Site.

5. Consent for Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you visit the Site from the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we use a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) that displays a consent banner. The banner allows you to accept or reject the use of cookies and personal data for purposes such as personalized advertising, ad measurement and analytics. We do not set non-essential cookies, and our ad partners do not serve personalized ads, unless you have given consent or another legal basis applies.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the privacy or cookie settings link on the Site. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site;
  • reply to your emails and handle corrections, suggestions and other requests;
  • send email alerts or newsletters to people who have asked to receive them;
  • understand how our content is used and plan new guides;
  • display advertising that helps keep the Site free, and measure its performance;
  • detect, prevent and respond to fraud, spam, abuse and security issues;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

7. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA and UK Visitors)

If you are in the EEA or the UK, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent: for non-essential cookies, analytics and personalized advertising, and for sending you our newsletter.
  • Legitimate interests: to operate and secure the Site, reply to your messages, keep basic records and improve our content, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we need to keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell your email address or the contents of your messages. We share information only in the following situations:

  • Service providers: companies that help us run the Site, such as our web hosting provider, email provider, analytics provider and consent management provider. They may process information only to provide their services to us.
  • Advertising partners: Google and, in the future, other ad networks and their third-party vendors, which collect information through cookies and similar technologies as described above.
  • Legal reasons: when we believe disclosure is required by law, a court order or a valid request from a public authority, or is necessary to protect our rights, our users or others.
  • Business transfers: if the Site is sold, transferred or merged, information may be transferred to the new owner, who will be required to respect this policy or notify you of any changes.

9. Your Privacy Rights (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and similar laws:

  • Access: to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: to ask us to delete your personal data.
  • Restriction: to ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Portability: to receive your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to object at any time to direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent: at any time, where processing is based on your consent.
  • Complaint: to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK).

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@eurogulfguide.com. We will respond within one month, as required by law. We may need to ask for information to verify your identity before we act on your request. Because personalized advertising and analytics data is collected directly by Google and other partners, you can also manage it using the consent settings on our Site and the tools provided by those partners.

10. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”), gives you specific rights regarding your personal information.

Categories of personal information

In the past 12 months, the Site may have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as IP address, cookie identifiers and email address, if you contact us); internet or other electronic network activity (such as browsing and interaction with the Site and ads); and general geolocation derived from your IP address. These are collected from you directly, from your device and from our analytics and advertising partners, for the purposes described in this policy. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA.

“Selling” and “sharing” for advertising

We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to collect information through cookies and similar technologies for personalized (cross-context behavioural) advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under the CCPA.

Your rights

  • Right to know: the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes and the categories of third parties with whom it is disclosed.
  • Right to delete: personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to correct: inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing: you can tell us not to sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
  • Right to limit: the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require this right).
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, you can use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or privacy settings link on our Site (where available), opt out of personalized advertising through Google’s Ads Settings, or email us at contact@eurogulfguide.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share”. Where required by law, we will treat a browser-based opt-out signal, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), as a valid request to opt out for that browser.

To make any other request, email us at contact@eurogulfguide.com. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, as allowed by law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we may ask for proof of that authorization.

11. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of certain other U.S. states, including Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and others with consumer privacy laws, may have similar rights to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data or profiling. Where these laws apply to us, you can exercise your rights by emailing contact@eurogulfguide.com. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy Appeal”.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience of students and adults planning to study or work abroad. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In the EEA and UK, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 (or the lower age set by local law) without parental consent, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Emails: we keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, normally no longer than 24 months, unless a longer period is required by law.
  • Newsletter list: we keep your email address until you unsubscribe, after which we may keep a minimal record to make sure we respect your choice.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited period by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Cookies and analytics: retained according to the cookie lifetimes and retention settings of each provider. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in our account.

14. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, secure hosting and limited access to our email account. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. International Data Transfers

EuroGulf Guide is operated from the United States, and our service providers and advertising partners may process information in the United States and other countries. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from those in your country. When we or our partners transfer personal data from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where our providers participate in it.

16. Links to Other Websites

Our guides contain links to other websites, including government, embassy, university and scholarship provider sites, as well as ads and, in the future, affiliate links. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new advertising partners, features or services, or when the law changes. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. If we make significant changes, we may also provide a more prominent notice on the Site. Please review this page periodically.
